Welcome!

Welcome to the new website for the Sixes Community "Sixes Corridor Overlay Plan." This is a place to share the concept and offer you a way to circulate this idea to your friends, neighbors, and relatives. It is my hope we may gain some momentum for the good ideas, and see them come to fruition here along the Sixes Corridor. This plan is a conceptual idea, with the intent to preserve the natural beauty of the Sixes corridor, which is losing mature trees, and green space buffers due to the exponential growth. The intention is to also establish some parameters so new commercial development is subdued and tasteful. Eliminating the great public/government fight to avoid a carnival like retail district, which over time, looks a bit worse for wear, is a priority. I am not anti-business, in fact we need retail, restaurants, and other businesses here to serve our community. The intention is to have good business partners who care about our community vibe, feel, look, and the desire to have a positive, vibrant, natural green spaces, interconnected, "living" community.

The intent is to create a community that has a "WOW!" factor. We cannot retroactively request changes, but we can work with this blank canvas with the last pockets of land available for development for commercial, multi use, etc.

The Mill is a lovely feature and focal point. Due to the fast development in the area, and the necessity of having to attend many planning and zoning hearings, work sessions, etc. on both a City of Holly Springs level, and Cherokee County, this idea was born.

Please be kind. I am just a neighbor. I am trying to do a good thing. This is not "set in stone." It is a work in progress. And a great avenue to continue a discussion that is necessary so we may all help in this process, and navigate through this rapidly changing community. With my fingers crossed, I hope we will gain momentum, and have an "overlay" adopted here on Sixes Road.

I'd like to see a "Linear Park" concept, which would reflect a long "park" like feel the full length of Sixes Road, with 6 foot sidewalks with mini rest areas, benches and resting boulders, etc. All which I believe can be done in the existing right of way. Richly landscaped lined roads. You to can help preserve this community's aesthetics, and keep it beautiful. A community with a long term vision, in which we all can happily, "live, work, play and stay."

We are unique! Sixes boasts, the Aquatic Center, the Mill, quick access to the new I-575 fast lane, medical facilities, Blanket's Creek Bike and walking trails, and hopefully a future connectivity of the trail systems, shopping, and good schools. ~ thank you for visiting!
